Job Title: First Aid Instructor
Location: Whitehorse, YT
Job Type: Part-Time
Reports To: CEO
Job Summary:
We are seeking a knowledgeable and passionate First Aid Instructor to join our team and deliver high-quality training programs to a variety of audiences. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in emergency care, excellent communication skills, and a desire to empower individuals with life-saving skills.
Key Responsibilities:
Deliver first aid, CPR, AED, and other health and safety training courses in accordance with certifying body standards and workplace health and safety requirements.
Facilitate interactive and engaging learning sessions using presentations, demonstrations, and hands-on practice.
Teach participants to achieve required competencies and complete assessments to certification standards.
Maintain accurate class records, attendance sheets, and evaluation forms and submit paperwork immediately following each course.
Set up and manage training equipment and materials before and after classes.
Stay current with best practices, certification updates, and instructional techniques.
Provide feedback and support to learners to encourage confidence and skill retention.
Travel to client locations as needed to conduct on-site training sessions.
Complete reports and other documentation as required.
Support other business functions as required.
Qualifications:
Current certification as a First Aid Instructor from a recognized organization (Lifesaving Society preferred).
Previous teaching or training experience preferred.
Excellent interpersonal, presentation, and organizational skills.
Ability to manage a classroom environment and adapt to diverse learning styles.
Comfortable using technology for presentations and record-keeping.
Valid class 5 driver’s license and reliable transportation (if travel is required).
Successful candidates will be required to provide a divers abstract over the last 3 years showing that is satisfactory to Aquatic Safety Canada.
Successful candidates may be required to provide a clean criminal records check.
Preferred Skills:
Experience with workplace safety standards (e.g., OHS regulations).
Background in healthcare, EMS, nursing, lifeguarding, or public safety.
Work Environment:
Instruction may occur in a variety of settings including classrooms, corporate offices, or outdoor training sites.
Requires physical ability to demonstrate first aid procedures, including CPR on mannequins and patient simulations.
Additional Information:
Hours of work: Variable hours up to 40 hours per week based on need
Days of work: Weekdays or weekends
Wage: $30 per hour for course delivery, $20 per hour for travel time for courses outside of the base location.
